Tails x Reader:Falling in love with my best friend

As you and Tails quickly ran back to Sonic's place, you saw the worried look on his face. You ran next to him and patted on his shoulder, "It's gonna be alright, Tails." You smiled reassuringly. He nodded to you and smiled back for only a short time.

Once the both of you reached to Sonic's place, Tails quickly barged in through the door to see the gang still arguing about what UT was translating. They didn't take notice of the both of you either. In fact, they were too busy arguing with each other to notice anything at all, and so the both of you went over to hold one of them back. You held back Amy from Sonic as Tails held back Sonic from her, but Knuckles and Sticks were still on the loose. 

"Now, now! Calm down, Sticks!" Knuckles said as he restrained her from trying to destroy UT. But unfortunately, UT only made things worse as he translated, "Take it easy whack-job."

"Hey!" She glared at Knuckles. "I am displeased."

"That's it! I've had enough with this piece of junk!" Sticks said as she struggled to escape Knuckle's grasp. "I will destroy it whatever it takes."

Tails quickly let go of Sonic and ran to try and shut him off, but UT didn't let him. "Hey, what's going on?" Tails frowned at his invention. "Hahaha." Tails tilted his head in confusion. "I'm not even thinking it's funny..."

Since Tails let go of Sonic, you decided to stand in between him and Amy, trying your hardest to stop them from fighting. "Hey, you guys! This is completely unnecessary!" You looked at them sternly. 

"After everything he said and thought about me, I won't stop until I get him to apologize to me." Amy glared at Sonic.
"He called me a big dope! How dare he said that to me!" 

 "I told you, I would never think all those things about you!" Sonic said defensively. "No wonder you're so sensitive, Amy Rose." 
"Oh! So now, that's what you're thinking?!" Amy's voice was filled with both anger and sadness. "Not even close!" Sonic waved his hands in defence. "Sonic the hedgehog, I can't believe you would say and think all of those awful things! I thought we were friends!" Amy whined as she looked like she was going to hit him, but you managed to restrain her. "We are, and I didn't say that! He did!" Sonic pointed towards the robot, and the robot just turned to him. Shortly after that, it started driving away from Tails who was still trying to catch it. "Come back here, UT!" Tails tried to tackle it down, but it managed to dodge every move Tails made. "I think you're malfunctioning. Let me fix you up!" He followed it. UT continued to roam around the house and chaos fell upon the gang. It was just a mad house! But they were also unaware that a certain person was happily watching them quarrel.

Sitting on his grand arm chair laughing his head off, the sneaky, evil scientist rubbed both of his hands gleefully and chuckled. "It appears to be that my plan is going perfectly well! My duplicated robot of Tails' new invention is already creating friction between Sonic and his friends! And with the group divided, I can destroy them once and for all!

And once I destroy them, I will finally take over this world and Eggman Land will come to be!" Eggman chuckled and laughed to himself happily as he continued to watch the gang quarrel. He was entirely enjoying the sight of it. "Now, this is going nicely."

UT: "Doctor Eggman is a genius."
Dr. Eggman: Hey, I like your style.
UT: "You're the only one who understands me."
Dr. Eggman: I think we've seen enough of this. [He shuts the monitor off and turned his attention back to UT]
UT: "Let's turn off the monitors and focus on praising Doctor Eggman.
Eggman smiled and laughed evilly, and after a while, Orbot and Cubot joined in the fun. Both robots started laughing along with Eggman, but then he cuts them off. "Don't laugh with me. You're ruining it."

"I swear, Amy. I would never do such a thing like that to you. You gotta believe me." Sonic pleaded to her, but Amy was entirely crossed with him, and she wouldn't forgive him that easily. "What did I ever do to you? I always try my hardest to be the person you wanted me to be, but you never appreciated it." Amy turned away to hide the fact that she was almost tearing up. She's a strong girl indeed, but sometimes strong girls do have weak points, and that was her weak point. Being rejected, misjudged, but mostly criticism affected her.

You tried everything you could to calm the both of them down, especially Amy. "Amy, please... This is not getting us anywhere, you have to stop this. You know better that he would never say those dreadful words to you." You consulted with her softly and kindly, hoping that she would stop.

Man, what's going on with everyone? It's just a full-time house of chaos, and it's getting out of control! Beyond my control, that is. I can't even catch UT and shut him down! Oh boy, what should I do?

Just then, an idea popped into my mind. I quickly got out a big piece of cloth and marked an X at certain spots of where UT might stop at. I then ascended into the air and waited patiently for him to roam around where I was at. 

A few minutes have gone by, and I finally found UT wandering off to the area I was at. I waited for the perfect moment for him to stop moving, and there I would do my part. 'Wait for it...wait for it...just a bit more...and....GOTCHA!' 

I descended and finally captured him beneath the cloth. It struggled to break free and I was able to shut it down. "Now, to see what's wrong with you." I said as I grabbed my handy screwdriver and wrench and started to check out the systems. When I opened the machine, I gasped at the sight.

Suddenly, Tails yelled out to the gang. "Guys! We've been duped! Eggman switched UT with this fake duplication of him. We gotta save him!" He said as he started running off but noticed that the gang wasn't following after him. He tilted his head in confusion. "Guys, I thought we were going. Don't you want to get UT back?"

Sonic looked down. "The point is, that thing just makes us fight all the time...and I think it's best if it's gone."

"Don't you see? This what it wants us to do! It's evil, I tell ya!" Sticks yelled out as she agreed with Sonic.

Tails looked at them offended, and inside he was deeply hurt. "Fine. I see how it is, I'll go get him back myself!" He turned and ran his way to Eggman's fortress, but without warning you stopped him."Tails, wait!"

He halted but didn't turn around, "Y/N...if you're going to try and stop me from getting UT back, it's not gonna happen."

You could hear sadness and hurt in his voice as soon as he said that. His invention must've meant a lot to him. "I'm not trying to stop you..." You said quietly enough for him to hear only.

Tails' ears perked up and looked over his shoulder at you in disbelief. You walked up to him and smiled. "I'm coming with you." He returned the smiled and gently grabbed your hand. You blushed shyly at him and the both of you quickly ran to Eggman's lair together.

-Le Time Skip-

Peering around a corner, Tails spoted a patrolling Motobug and notices that Eggman's fortress was highly under security surveillance. He then pulls back just as the Motobug turned in his direction and stayed down with you. He ducked your head and shielded the both of you with his two tails, just in case. While he held you close to him, you noticed that his face was close to yours and you looked away blushing. 'This is too close! Ahhhh, pull yourself together Y/N!' You mentally slapped yourself. You could hear his heartbeat, feel his breath tickle your fur, but most of all you felt the warmth from him. You were even tempted to snuggle up against him but you managed to control yourself. You took in a deep breath and cleared your mind. 'I got this...just keep it together....hold it together...and everything will be alright...' You thought.
Once Tails heard the Motobug drive away, he looked back at you and you asked him. "Now what? We can't waltz in like that, we'll be caught!" You whispered. Tails looked at you and nodded in agreement, "I know, but we don't have much of a choice." He said to you as he turned his attention back at the security cameras and guards that were patrolling around the base. You nodded understandingly at him and leaned back against a tree's trunk, waiting for him to come up with a plan. Suddenly, the bark moved backwards and you fell in a huge hole. "Ahhh!" Tails shot his attention back at you. "Y/N!" He acted fast and tried to grab your legs, but instead he got pulled in as well.

''Oof!" You expected to land on something painfully hard, but ended up landing on something soft instead. You stroked on the soft surface and heard purring. Hmm? How did that happen? You continued to stroke it until it purred again. "Uh...Y/N?" You heard Tails ask in the dark. "Hmm?" Luckily you brought a flashlight with you and switched it on. You were still on top of the fluffy surface and pointed your light at it, and it revealed to be white and yellow. Wait a sec...You slowly looked up and tensed up as you noticed how close you guys were. Your faces were only inches away and your noses touched. Your face started to heat up madly, and you saw that Tails was also turning red too. You felt the tension between the both of you. 'Oh my goodness! He and I are extremely close!' You were then captivated by his sky blue eyes looking right into yours, and you stared into them as his stared back into yours. His eyes were so adorably irresistible, you thought. "Uh...Y/N? You can...umm...get up now...hehe..." Tails stammered, embarrassed. You snapped back into reality and stood up, "S-sorry! I didn't mean to land..uh..on top of...you.." You turned the other way, trying to hide your blushing face and you mentally facepalmed yourself. "H-hey, it's alright. It was really an unexpected fall...so yeah..." Tails blushed as he too, looked the other way. His thoughts were still set on how you stroked his fur and how good it felt to him. Secretly, he wished that you could do it again. 

The both of you were glad that it was relatively dark from where you fell in. Glad that it was dark enough to cover up your flushed faces.
It was an awkward moment of silence, until Tails broke it. "We should get going..." Tails scratched his head shyly. "Oh! Yes, let's go!" You held in your emotions as you quickly walked off and followed the light, with Tails following behind you.

Eventually, the both of you found your way out of the dark tunnel easily, and entered Eggman's base. "So that tunnel actually led us into Eggman's lair!" You said happily as you crawled out. "Yeah. Probably it was an emergency escape route made by him, so that if anything happens..-''
"-He can escape this way." You finished for him and he chuckled. "Right, you are N/N!" You blushed again. You just loved hearing him say your nickname!
"Okay...so we're in. Uh...UT is probably in the main control room with Eggman, or he could be in the lobby. I'm not sure."

"Let's go and check to see if he's in the main control room upstairs." You suggested to him. 

"Yeah, let's go there first!" Tails agreed with you.

-Time skip with Eggman and UT-
"Would you like another slice of cake?" Eggman asked UT while holding a cake with his logo on it. "What a beautiful cake. I hope no one sits on it." UT translated. Just as Eggman set the cake on the table, you and Tails came falling in through a ceiling, landing right on it! There was cake everywhere and all of you had to wipe it off. 
"Eggman!" Tails quickly helped you get off the table and placed one of his arms infront of you, protecting you.
"What's up with that ceiling of yours? I'll blame you if Y/N got hurt from that fall. Lucky she landed on me twice."
Tails blushed when he forgotten that UT can translate his thoughts, and pretended to sigh in annoyance. "Not now, UT!" He threw a slice of cake at him, hitting his off switch. You blushed as well when you heard UT translated what Tails had said, and you looked away shyly. But then you shrugged it off, guessing that he only said that because he was trying to keep his best friend safe. "Now give me back my robot!" Tails placed his hands on his hips while you were behind him.
Dr. Eggman stood up and towered over the both of you, trying to act all intimidating. "Or what?"
"Hmmm...well, that's a fair question." Tails said as he turned back and looked at you. You shrugged. Just then, more of Eggman's troops entered and surrounded the both of you.
"Where's that blue loser eh? And the rest of your friends?" Eggman then glances at you and added. "Well, maybe except for her."
"We came here alone! And I came to negotiate the release of my robot, UT!"
"Negotiate? Usually we just battle until the losing party... sometimes you, sometimes me, it's about a fifty-fifty split... retreats to his lair!"
"Let's pretend that's true and that you don't always lose. In exchange for the safe return of my robot and my best friend, I'm prepared to offer my services as your personal lab assistant."
You nodded as you continued to listen to them exchange deals with one another. Your mind wandered off somewhere in their conversation and eventually heard Tails' deal. Wait, WHAT?!
"Intriguing... with two mechanical geniuses under one roof, I'd raise my win ratio well above the fifty-fifty mark that we both agreed earlier was completely accurate."
"Then it's a deal?" Tails asked, but was suddenly interrupted by you.
"NO! No deal, Tails! I object! I'm not leaving with UT without you!" You tugged on his shoulder tightly, and he looked at you with concern in his eyes. "Y/N, I know what I'm doing...-" Tails placed his hand on your cheek for comfort but you shoved his it away. "No! I won't let you do this!" You snapped at him. "I'm staying here with you. Whether you like it or not." You pouted and crossed your arms stubbornly at him. You didn't want him to be alone with this crazy scientist, and you especially didn't want him to get hurt. You promised yourself and Cosmo earlier that you would protect him and always be there for him, no matter what. 

Tails sighed but chuckled softly to himself. "You're always so stubborn, Y/N." He walked to you and brought you into a hug. At first, you hesitated to accept the embrace, but then eventually you gave in and buried your face on his shoulder. He then whispered to you softly and sweetly in your ear that it made you ticklish all over your body. "Alright, Y/N, you can stay with me. I say this, because I know no matter how hard I try to convince you to do something that you don't want to, you would always refuse and insist on doing what you really want." You smiled sheepishly, and you swore you felt Tails smile back behind your back. He then broke the hug and his eyes stared into yours, as if saying, 'Thank you for persuading me to let you stay with me.' He then turned back to Eggman who was waiting impatiently with his arms crossed on his chest and with his foot tapping onto the ground.
"Are you done with your lovey-dovey conversation? Or what?"
You and Tails blushed and he spoke up, "Y/N has decided that she'll join us. She and I will now be working for you in exchange of my robot's safe return home. So, do we still have a deal?"
"I'll have Orbot draw up a contract. This will be delicious! Having two of Sonic's friends helping me build the tools that will destroy him!" Eggman laughed evilly in euphoria and excitement.
"It's ripe with irony, your evilness! Sonic won't know what hit him!" Cubot added.
"But wait. The moment Sonic realizes you're missing, he'll come bursting through that door with that circus troop he calls friends, and put a damper on all the fun!" Eggman looked at the both of you sternly, thinking what he should do.
"I've already thought of that. Since you're letting UT go, we'll just send a message along with him." Tails looked at you and you nodded.
"Good thinking, number two!" Eggman commented.
"But I thought I was number two." You looked over at Orbot who looked at his master, seemingly confused and somewhat shocked.
"Oh please. I'd need a computer to find out where you fall in the pecking order." Eggman operated his laptop and analysed his files. "Fortunately, I have one here. Three hundred forty-seven."
Orbot looked down at the ground depressed, and you felt kind of sorry for the guy. Then, Tails calls you in as he pushes a button on UT and activated a video recorder. You stood next to him and he began to speak, "Hey gang, it's Tails and Y/N. We're going to be staying with Eggman. No need to rescue us, we're one hundred percent safe and happy." Tails concluded as he was about to end the recording, but you added in. "We'll miss you guys!" You smiled innocently at the camera, and Tails finally ended the recorder. The both of you looked at each other and turned to Eggman, waiting for him to do his part of the deal...
